Since about my junior year of High School, I’ve had issues with sleep. We all know sleep is something our bodies need to recover from the wear and tear on them throughout our day. When following an exercise program they recommend that you get 7-8 hours a night so that your muscles can recover properly. This also affects your metabolism and help establish healthy cortisol levels.
During quarantine, our schedules got way off track and I was finding that I wasn’t entering REM cycles the same as before. James and I went on a quick vacation in September and saw my brother for a couple of those days. We love a good movie binge and he had a fabulous blanket that I grabbed. I never fall asleep in movies and within minutes I was DOWN FOR THE COUNT.
Benefits of Weighted Blanket

I clicked that order button on that blanket during a gas stop on the way to the airport. Between the combo of my pajama sets (it’s science, look into it), essential oils (plants are everything y’all, I’ll put my favorite roller recipe below) and the weighted blanket–my sleep routine is the top of my game.
I feel so much more rested and can honestly say this is one of the best purchases for 2020 and is an excellent gift. What I didn’t realize is the benefits of a weighted blanket:
Sensory Integration & Calming: Helps stimulate the pressure points on the body to help the mood and get the body into sleep mode by the weight on the body reducing the “fight or flight. ” Serotonin is released in the brain by the pressure points, serotonin has a big part in the production of melatonin which is a natural sleeping aid.
- Mimics a hug
- Helps with focus while doing a task
- Helps manage symptoms of those with PTSD, Anxiety, Sensory Processing Disorder, and Panic Disorder
- Promotes more deep sleep
- Boosts mood
Since September of 2020, I have seen incredible results with our weighted blanket in my sleep patterns. We have our routine of bath, roller oils, read a book, prayer, and lights out. Establishing a routine along with this could go along way in getting REST and changes in your daily routine. We put ours in this duvet and styled it with two light quilts at the bottom of the bed for more warmth for my feet.
Weighted Blanket & Duvet Styling

You can purchase the weighted blanket we love here.
The duvet is listed above and has tabs so we don’t have to wash our weighted blanket so often. Best part is it stays put because of the WEIGHT.
All my pillows are covers from Hobby Lobby or thrift finds. The beautiful crocheted blanket on our bed was a gift handmade from a family friend.
Our headboard is over four years old. We have a metal frame under our mattress, I couldn’t find the same one off Wayfair but I found a similar headboard. I love quilts or coverlets for texture and found similar ones here.

+If you choose to purchase any linked items, I may receive a small commission but it does not cost you anything more.+
